Dear reader,
As a consumer of erotica, have you ever wondered how the writers of those titillating stories, which make us wet or hard, come up with their wild scenarios. Have they performed what they write about? Do they have fantasies? Have they indulged themselves or are they all talk and no show? (like me.)
I don’t care what they eat. I want to know who they ate or would like to eat! What motivates them? What gets them going?
Shall we find out. This week’s person of interest is acclaimed author, Fawn Lowery
Welcome Fawn, seeing how we are trying to get a feel for the sensuous writer, my questions may be a little pointed, so if you have a problem with a question, just go to the next one.
• First question: How did you start writing erotica?
My stories have always had sexual elements—even twenty years ago when all the action took place behind the closed bedroom door. The urge to go beyond that door intrigued me. I wrote sex scenes but left them out of the stories I sold. One day while browsing a local bookstore, I came across Blue Moon Books and a whole new world opened up for me. I bought a stack and read every word inside those explicit covers. Finally I knew what genre I was writing and wanted to write.
• How long have you been writing erotica and would you prefer to write anything else?
About twenty years! I freelance to men’s magazines and several women’s magazines that accept erotic fiction, print and ezine. As for writing anything else, my characters won’t let me.
• Do you feel you offer anything special to your readers?
Perhaps the opportunity to indulge in a sexual escape when they read my work. I try to develop characters and scenes that pull the reader in. When I write about a naked man, I want the reader to see him, feel as if they are stroking his skin, smell his scent—my aim is to arouse the sexual side of the human being.
• What are your writing goals?
To find a publisher where my contemporary erotic romances are best sellers!
• As an erotic writer, you are assumed to be a sexual person. Do you have any sexual hang-ups?
Wow! Sexual hang-up! I can write about group sex—but I would never have the courage to participate in such a ‘gathering.’
• As an erotic writer and a sexual person, do you have any sexual fantasies?
Yes! However, I put them all on paper and get paid for doing so! Actually, there is one…I’ve yet to have sex in the moonlight on a Hawaiian beach, then smoke a cigarette and sip a mai tai afterwards. *sigh*
• Have you acted out your fantasy? If you haven’t would you consider living out your fantasy?
I once had sex in a pickup truck while parked at the river! I think that’s as close as I’ve come to acting out my Hawaiian fantasy. By the way, the riverbank was far less crowded than a Hawaiian beach at night time. Living out my fantasy? Heck yeah! Clear a beach in Hawaii and I’ll (we) will be right there!
• From where do you get your main characters?
They come straight from the old gray matter!
• What is your preferred style, when writing erotica, ie. m/f f/f, m/m, mfm, bdsm, etc?
I prefer male/female, and a touche of BDSM is great as well. I like a powerful male in my stories. I love writing about hunky men and beautiful women, developing their characters and putting them in steamy sexual situations. I think a man and a woman making love—totally enjoying each other’s bodies—is the epitome of erotica.
• What do you personally look for in a sexual partner?
Willingness to experiment! I never want sex to become a boring thing in my life. I think you have to have experimentation to keep the heat generated in a relationship.
• Doing what to your sexual partner, gets you excited?
Washing his chest in the shower! Oooo! The exquisite feel of wet flesh beneath my fingers!
• Which celebrities or other well known individuals, if any, do you drool over?
Josh Turner, the country music star who sings ‘Your Man’ on my space page! He’s beautiful!
• Do you sometimes get turned on by your own erotic writing?
Yes. I believe my writing has to stimulate me before it will have the same effect on my readers. I write until the sex scenes are burning my mind and then I know they will fulfill my readers’ expectations.
• If so, do you do anything about it?
I keep both hands on the old keyboard at all times, honey!
• Have you ever participated in any of the wild scenarios of which you have written?
Yes. Some—but not all. My readers can probably guess which ones I haven’t done yet after they read this interview! Ha!
• In your estimation, what is the sexiest book/story you have written? And do you have a sexy passage that you would share with us.
Sexiest? That’s a hard question to answer since I try to make all my books the sexiest one. I suppose I’d have to pick Captive Heart, my only historical romance. The story has a BDSM theme. The heroine is naïve but soon wakes up to realize she has more power over her captor than imaginable.
Here’s a short excerpt:
Myla stared up at him. The moment she had feared was upon her. His lordship was going to rape her upon his bed. She felt a tremor race through her body.
An aura of suspended lust seemed to hang in the air of the bedchamber.
His face, though fearful to look upon, didn’t appear threatening. A note of confusion wafted through her. He was towering over her, commanding in every sense, yet she had no fear of him.
“On the contrary, your lordship, I have been expecting you to rape me since you stole me from my pallet,” she said in a whisper voice. “And now, if it is your wish, get on with it.” She drew in a steadying breath. “I ask only, your lordship, that you do it quickly, that I may not suffer.” She had resigned herself. She looked away from him, staring at the ceiling instead.
Jase laughed out loud.
“Suffer?” he questioned, laughing again. “It is a wench’s delight to have my cock inside her.”
“Is not the act of rape a vile injustice?”
He gazed at her lips while she spoke.
“Hush,” he commanded, his tone low. He lowered his dark head and brushed his lips across hers, making her draw in a sharp breath. “You are the wench of my enemy,” he said, his breath wafting across her cheeks. “But your lips taste of honey.”
• What is your current release? Please post a blurb or tell us about it.
My second paranormal romance, The Witch And The Vampire debuted May 30th. It’s the story of a young witch who awakens a sleeping vampire and is forced to do his bidding. They travel back to his time—1185—to search for his three brothers who have fallen under the same evil spell as he.
Thank you for being this week’s guest and sharing with your fans. I hope you have found our questions stimulating.
Thank you for the opportunity! I found your questions different than other interviews I’ve done. I thoroughly enjoyed answering them. I think, perhaps, they gave my readers a little view into the real personality of Fawn Lowery.
